The A3 Gallery (A-cubed) was opened by Juanli Sun in late November 2007, in the famous 798 District of Beijing. Juanli, who is from the mountains of central Hubei is recognised as one of the finest nature photographers in China, with many of her images printed in books and magazines internationally.
However, it was her enthusiasm for the abstract work of her husband, Alister Benn, which drove her to open and manage the space. Having returned to live in Beijing full-time in 2007, they were struck by the powerful aesthetic which appeared to be recurrent in the cities newer architecture.
It is her wish that the work be recognised as a fresh objective on the new face of Beijing; being modern, graphic and aesthetic, yet respectful to the ancient history of the city.
The gallery only displays Alisters work and does not feature any other artists.
